Bella

After two weeks with Tater, my mother finally decided she was ready to get a dog. For YEARS she has said she wanted a dog. And when I say years, I'm talking six years, at least. So after those two weeks, I think she realized that we could totally do it. We fell in love with dachshunds because of T, so my mom found a Denver rescue that actually was dachshund exclusive. We contacted the lady who ran the organization and saw that they were having an event in just a few days. We went to the event, met the lady, and met several dogs. Initially, we loved these two chiweenies, but in the end, they got adopted before we could further pursue them. After filling out our application and passing our home check, we waited to hear back from the lady about another dog we fell in love with Roo Roo. We went to go meet Roo, but while we were at the rescue, my dad noticed another little dog.
 Meet Bella.

The lady told us she was from a kill shelter in Texas. She came to visit us and instantly, she clicked with our family. Roo was pretty timid, whereas Maddie was energetic and jumped right into our arms. We decided she was perfect to adopt. We would pick her up the day after we got home from San Diego.

That Wednesday, my mom, Brandon, and I drove to bring home our new wiener. She was SO excited and too cute. We got her a new collar, a bed, and all the essentials. We were still trying to decide on a name. The rescue called her Maddie, but we were going to call her Addie because we know a lot of Maddies. There was still some arguing over Maddie/Addie. However, before she came to Colorado, her name was Bella, the rescue lady just didn't think she looked like a Bella. However, she was only at the rescue being called Maddie for about three weeks; she was Bella for three years. When we called to her as Bella, she immediateley knew we were talking to her so we knew that was meant to be her name.

So far, the transition into our family has been smooth. She sleeps in her bed at the end of my sister's bed and loves to go for walks. She loves people and laps and our cats. The cats are growing to like her, but we still see them staring at her pretty often just like this:

Bella is 100% miniature dachshund. Her coat pattern is called piebald and is actually pretty rare, resulting in several people confusing the pattern for a different breed. She is sweet as can be and we sure do love her!
