1. I am seriously addicted.
2. Loving that all my favorite TV shows are coming back on! Especially excited for Modern Family, Private Practice, and most of all... GREY'S ANATOMY (which by the way, was just ridiculous. *spoiler alert* Mark Sloan forever...1968-2012. I will never forget you McSteamy)
</3
3. Spanish projects... my favorite Moorish soldiers <3
4. Dear Olivia, do not take 45 minute showers when you know I need to shower. Or this will happen.
5. Post-homecoming. Forgetting other shoes means flats with your lazy clothes!

PS- In case you were wondering... 88 days till Christmas:)
Back in March, Jessica introduced us to the fabulous show, Kid Nation. It is amazing. It's a show from 2007 on CBS about 40 kids living for 40 days without any kids in a desolate Wild West city. The kids survive, and learn to thrive, but there is of course a few bumps in the road along the way. Jessica loves it so much that her birthday party was based on it. (And that, as we all know, was the most memorable party ever!)
Jess' favorite person on the show is Greg Pheasant, who at the time was 15, and the oldest contestant. She loves this guy, LOVES him.
So back in May, Sierra and I stirred up an idea that would make us Jess's best friends, forever.
On July 20th, Sierra and I went to Michael's, got a blue bandana (Greg was in the blue district) and looked up Greg's address. Creepers much? Yeah.:) We mailed it off with a nice little letter, and an envelope addressed back to me, all ready. In the letter, we wrote that Jess' birthday was in August, and if we could have it back in the beginning of the month, that would be perfect. When August 10 came, we still hadn't gotten the package back.
Last night, my mom told me a package had come in the mail for me, but she had no clue what it was. Honestly, I had forgotten about the bandana. I was hoping for a gift from a distant relative or something real cool, but was even more surprised and excited to see THE envelope! I was screaming and jumping around, it was the best moment ever!!! I called and called Sierra, but got no reply! I ripped open the envelope to reveal this...
"Work hard, play hard". That my friends, is a Jessica expression. We didn't even tell him to write that. Can you say perfect?
Finally, Sierra called me back and I told her I would be at her house in 10 minutes. I drove as fast as I could in the pouring rain and showed her! We screamed and showed it off to all her brother's friends. Man alive, we were excited.
We devised a way to give it to her and were set! The bandana was folded back up and put in the envelope (so we had proof that it had really come from Reno, NV) and ready for her to open, and scream over!
Finally, this morning, at 7:30am, Jess got the package of her dreams.
Yep, we brought her to tears. I think it's safe to say Sierra and I are now Jessica's favorite best friends.
Lately, I've been thinking an awful lot about the future and growing up. Like all I can think about during school is how I'm not going to be there forever, and that I should take it all in, and life won't always be the same. It's ridiculous.
I've been rereading this book with Mackenzie and listening to songs from the movie. One of the big songs that sparked from it was this:
Unwritten- Natasha Bedingfield
"I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
Oh, oh, oh
I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten"
It's raining out and that's when I do a lot of my thinking. I always am listening to music, but when it's raining, I analyze my music more. This song made me think that I may have my habits, but I can be whoever the heck I want to be. Others could influence my actions, but then it's not really me, being me. So until I truly be myself, than I will not experience the ecstasy life has to offer.
For several years now, we've been growing apples. We have our two little apple trees but man alive, we get a ton of apples off of them! And they're pretty darn good! My favorite way to eat them is in homemade applesauce.:)
I think what is most fascinating is the growth over time. It is beautiful how they grow and ripen. I love when they first begin to grow because that means that it is summer (no school, hot days, sleepovers, tennis, no cares at all)! But I love when they are ripe because that means it is fall (cider, pumpkins, leaves changing, Thanksgiving, Christmas)! It is crazy how these babies have changed!
In May
Overflowing trees
Great color, texture, and flavor!
Sweet perfection!
I am determined to try some new recipes with all these apples! here are some things at the top of my list...
I really hate growing up. I love being a kid. Well, I'm hardly a kid anymore it feels like. Sure, it will be great one day to be grown up and responsible for everything, but for now, I'm okay.
I'm a junior in high school. I only have two more years at home. Two more years. I still remember two years ago crystal clear (it was actually freshman homecoming week...Toga Tuesday). Soon, my friends and I will be parting ways, which seems ridiculous, because right now, in the grand scheme of things, they are one of the biggest things in my world, and one of the most important things. It's hard for me to grasp that in two years, I won't have them at my side, from at least 7am to 3pm, at least five days a week. You never really realize how much your with them... until your not.
Recently, on one of the CDs in my car, this song came on. I usually skip over it, but took the time to listen to it. Then replayed it again and again.
These Days -- Chantal Kreviazuk
I feel like this a song any girl can listen to, and think of her best friends. The ones you laugh with, cry with, sing and dance with, do anything and everything with. These friends, are the best friends in the whole wide world, and once you find them, you never want to let them go. You feel like you can't live without them, because no one will ever be the same. These lyrics really got me:
"There's four roads to anywhere
Four ways to everything
We were unbreakable
We spoke our destiny
Let's take a moment out
Go were we never go
Let's make a new world now
Where we can wear each other for awhile
I'll lend you my tears if I could borrow your smile
We'll get through tomorrow somehow today
Happy After...
Once upon these days
Then one day we'll find
when we're looking back at this time
Wondering how we've come so far from this
When we close our eyes"
I knew this song was from the movie, "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants". I read the first book a few years back and loved it, so thought, why not watch the movie too.
It. was. phenomenal. It was realistic, and relatable. It reminded me of me and my friends. Each girl showed shades of my friends and their story was true. I felt like my friends and I could very well experience the same thing. It made me want to go to a store and find a pair of jeans that fit all seven of us, and we could trade them over time.
Their sisterhood reminded me of my own.
"Being happy isn't having everything in your life be perfect. Maybe it's
about stringing together all the little things... and making those count for more
than the bad stuff. Maybe we just get through it... and that's all we
can ask for."
The homecoming dance is by far one of the best things about high school. This year, was the best year yet in my opinion. Freshman year, I loved the atmosphere. Sophomore year, I loved the company. This year, I loved the atmosphere, company, AND music. It was a blast!
We got ready at my house...
My hair, I LOVED it!
Took pictures in Riley and Sierra's neighborhood...
The Face
Minorities!
Sisters :)
Sliders!
The dance was super fun! There was a photographer there taking pictures and we tore up the dance floor. ;)
Sorry for the bad quality... they were scanned pictures
Afterwards, we went and changed at Maddison's and went to grab some food from Village Inn. We loaded up on sugar in attempt to stay up through two movies.
We watched "What to Expect When Your Expecting", one of our favorites! Riley and Sierra, who hadn't seen it and wanted to watch it, were naturally, the first to fall asleep. We planned on watching "21 Jump Street" after, but it was 3am, and we were exhausted. It was so much fun. I can't wait for Sadies... or better yet, PROM!
My school is one of the best schools in the world. I really do love it. The last day every homecoming week, we have Field Day. Honestly, it is indescribable. The night before you can't sleep. The day of, the hours leading up to it pass by as fast as plastic decomposes. Finally, we eat lunch in seminar, painting faces, putting on our costume, practicing our song and cheer once more. Then you walk in to the gym. It is echoing with screaming and yelling kids, so excited. All you see is a sea of blue and green. It is the best day of the year. Each class participates in all sorts of events, it is a serious thing. It brings out every student's school spirit. :) I am so so so sad I only have one more left. :(
Mack and I in seminar
Then, in the end, we do the "Do It" cheer. It is the best.
Technically, we lost Powderpuff (for the third year in a row) to the seniors 0-25. rough. HOWEVER, they had players who were not eligible to play, which is against the rules, so they lost and WE WON! The manleaders, were as usual, hilarious and amazing. I've watched their performance many times now. :)
