Turtle Tubing Down the Colorado

For a fun final summer day, we went tubing down the Colorado River yesterday and it was SO much fun! We left at 7:30am and drove up to Vail and then to Glenwood Valley and were ready for fun!
We saw some hot air balloons on the way there!
Our family went with three others and we piled into six different tubes and floated on down. :) There was 11 of us kids and we started going before the parents.

We were in three different tubes and it honestly felt a little like Lord of the Flies or some other no-parents experience with water. We connected our tubes and would jump in the water, being dragged by holding onto the other end of an oar, bobbing in our life jacket. ;) The water was very cold but refreshing after sitting in the tube! We would paddle the tubes near sand banks and pretend they were islands. Some of the 'islands' turned out to be thick, trapping mud and we would get stuck trying to walk in it! We took turns being the captain and standing up, looking for other islands. Eventually, we stopped and waited long enough to get snacks from the parents. They threw it at us and sat eating for a while. Some of the jerky fell in the water but was still factory sealed, so we ate it, calling it 'river meat'. ;)

We were so disappointed when it ended! It was a ton of fun and I can't wait to go next year!!

Someone was exhausted
