Happily Hannah: Europe Day 4, Prague

Prague, Day 4: 6/13/2013

Today was the BEST day! I am in love with Prague! Words can't even describe the beauty of this city. We started the day with a guided walking tour. We saw Prague Castle, Golden Lane, St. Vitus Cathedral, St. Charles Bridge, the Astronomical Clock Tower, and about 400 other things. The tour was SO long! I'd guess it was probably almost six hours. We literally walked 11 miles. Then came glorious free time. I think it's so cool that we're just allowed to walk around a city we're barely familiar with and take it all in. We hung out with Jimmy, Alex, Sophie, Jack, Carly, and Peter. For lunch, we had the most delicious- doners! They're fresh baked bread, sorta like pitas, lamb, lettuce, tomato, and delicious sauce. It was sort of like a Greek gyros. We got free water and wifi at Starbucks. Oh bless Starbucks. Then we went on an underground tour of the city. It was so neat to see the infrastructure and original parts of Prague and learn about the floods. Backtrack- Fun fact: I was talking to Maya when we were at the castle and she also wants to be a pediatric cardiac surgeon!! SO COOL! Retrack- After the underground tour, we were going to see the Venice of Prague. I walked with Alex and Maddison. After crossing, the bridge, we turned around because the Venice of Prague was flooded. We found a little restaurant to relax at, and rehydrated. We went to dinner and had authentic Czech food, just like the stuff we have at grandpas! We had more free time at dinner, and I went to hang out with two boys from the Oklahoma group, Maddison, Brenden, and Carly. That was crazy, but a ton of fun! Brenden ordered a dessert called Old Czech Pie, which was basically a sweet cake with poppyseed filling that was served warm. We got back to the town center, had some gelato, and went back to the hotel. Mack, Jess, Matt, and I went and had hung out in the stair case, where Matt sketched the city. It was a total movie moment, just a group of American teenagers hanging out in Europe having a good time. We filtered down to the lobby for some free wifi. At 12:15am, the electricity went out so we got ready for leaving the next day by moonlight. But nothing charged so that was a bummer. It was so neat to be in Prague, and my family's homeland. I'd love love love to come back!
