High Five for Friday!

I can't believe June is 2/3 of the way over. Summer always flies by:( But there's still plenty of time so I'm going to keep soaking in the goodness.

1. Just because she's such a cute dog.

2. Matching with my baby boyfriend
The cutest little smile EVER!
3. A beautiful piece of suburbia.

4. My parents were both out of town for a few days, and my aunt and uncle were too, so it was just me, Brandon, and my two cousins. 12 hours of being home without them and we took out the shotgun to kill a bird. #lifewithboys

5. Abby and I were not enjoying being the only girls home while our moms and sisters were at poms camp, so we took a trip to Sonic for milkshakes and some ABBA dancing.

High Five for Friday!

Happy Friday! It's a humid, rainy day here in Colorado. It's been such a warm week and I'm enjoying today's afternoon storm. This week was my mom's last week of school and I'm so happy to have her joining the rest of us on summer break! It officially feels like summer now. In three weeks we will be headed to Hawaii but until then, I predict lots of grilling, visits to the locals pools, and night time walks. Summer is the best.

1. My mom was so sick this week, which made her last week feel even longer. I decided to help her out by making dinner every night. It was fun to create a menu, do some grocery shopping, and prep the meals. My favorite meal was this honey mustard chicken. It's a must try recipe!
A rainbow of veggies for pasta salad on Tuesday night

2. Witnessing sweet siblings.

3. Watercolor has become a new hobby of mine. It's therapeutic to sit and listen to music (or watch Friends) while keeping my hands busy.
Yep, mostly just flowers now. And some high quality Crayola watercolors;)

4. Afternoon rainstorms+flooding gutters+being crazy 14-year old girls= yoga in the street in bikinis

5. How cute are key limes? Juicing them on the other hand... not so fun.

High Five for Friday!

This week has been nothing but happy. There was nothing in particular that made it so darn joyful, it just was. I had two midterms Monday and a lab quiz on Thursday which aren't always fun, but the weather has been something wonderful and warm and the sunshine has brought me so much happy! The forecast for the weekend is great (75 on Sunday!!!) and spring break is a week away. I woke up to the smell of rain and had a major dance party while getting ready. Spring is in the air! "Pumped Up Kicks" by Foster the People always gets my day started right, along with a big cup of coffee. Classes went quickly, and Christine and I got Starbucks to kick off the weekend. I deep cleaned my room and am catching up on Grey's, and plan on hanging out with Em, Mack, and Mel tonight. I am on a roller coaster that only goes up!

I didn't do a great job of documenting the week, but my dad went to San Diego this week for business and made sure to send my family a million pictures that only made us very jealous. I don't think I could ever live in California, but the warm weather and beaches sure do make it tempting. Even though the weather here has been pretty amazing, I think my whole family was wishing to be in San Diego mostly just to escape reality. We had a wonderful trip there this summer and loved every second of it. So here's a glimpse into my dad's life this week.

1. View of the city from Coronado Island

 2. The Marina

 3. Coronado Beach- oh what I would give to be there now!

4. He went on a behind-the-scenes tour of the San Diego Zoo. What a rough life!

5. A beautiful, beautiful sunset

I suppose I am fine here nestled up to the beautiful Flatirons, I really don't have much to complain about;) But I am very much looking forward to the beach and warmth and humidity... only 103 days until Hawaii! not that I'm counting of course;)

Happy weekend, loves!

High Five for Friday!

Wow it's been so long since I did one of these posts. I don't know how I fell off the wagon, but I'm really, really trying to be a better blogger and these are easy posts that help keep me grounded.

It was a crazy, exhausting week. I had my first round of midterms. Three of my four were all on Monday. Shout out to all my loves who sent me good vibes and lots of luck- positivity lifted me through the day.

1. Excuse the fact that I am actually blogging a selfie (better yet a Snapchat selfie) of myself. But this absolutely captures how I felt on Monday night at 7:15, while I was waiting to start my third exam of the day. Exhausted, brain dead, and DONE.

2. Just another moment of Smith South Third being the best ever.

3. I have been waiting for this lab since I saw it in the manual. No words can express my love for dissections! This little fetal pig was one of the best parts of the week, without a doubt.
I swear that my hair is A) not the dark and B) not greasy- I had just washed it! I blame bad lab lighting.

4. A little Starbucks to celebrate finishing midterms on Thursday afternoon.
It doesn't get more basic than this

5. They're making a third movie!!!!!! CUE SCREAMING!!!! (even though I have known about this for months but now it's for sure!!!)

Happy weekend of love!

High Five for Friday!

I swear time goes by 500 times faster in college. Each week FLIES by! I won't complain though! I'm headed home this weekend and I can't wait to shower without flip flops, not need a key to get back in my room, have Sonic, and enjoy food that is not from a dining hall.

1. I love finding these articles online that just reaffirm that CU was the best decision ever!

2. The fall colors here are outstanding!

3. The best part about having a beautiful campus is there is never a shortage of places to take pictures.
Beautiful old Hale Sciences behind me

4. Amen to 8am's being cancelled!
And I already had all the WebWork done (fistbump emoji)

5. Guess who is coming home this weekend!!!!!
I love pictures like this that truly capture friendship in it's craziest, true form

High Five for Friday!

Today it's cold, rainy, and foggy and I am in love!! This weather is my favorite...  perfect for listening to Christmas of course! The second week of school went by fast... I feel like it's been more than two weeks!

1. We went to Young Life on Wednesday and I really enjoyed it! Mack and Madi got selected to take part in this activity where people were made into a burrito. That along with Joey and Alan's remarks made for a hilarious time.

2.After YL we found the Swing Dance Club! Definitely one of the most fun things I have EVER done!
Hahahahha Mack
Be forewarned, Asians don't know how to dance
 3. Signs of fall are around

This is more of a "look at my awesome braid and the beautiful background" pic but hey it's fall-ish
4. FaceTime dates are fun! This is an especially cute pic of me yawning

5. This rainy night means watching Christmas with the Kranks and eating all the junk food my mom gave me!

A Season of Change

As I was sitting on the couch watching RV with my family, I was thinking about how it had been a while since I blogged and I was feeling the need to. At first, I thought to myself, "Oh I'll call my post 'Shame shame' or something like that since I've been a bad blogger lately". Then it dawned on me that I don't owe anything to this blog or my readers (sorry guys). I blog for me. To write down my memories. To share this beautiful thing we call life.

Currently, I'm going through what my mom would call a season of change. I will be moving out in 6 days. 6 DAYS. This summer has absolutely flown by, like they all seem to. I've been busy prepping for this next chapter of my life while still trying to savor each moment in the present. There's a lot that I'm trying to process now and that's what led me to blog. Writing things out is one of the best ways I can sort things out in my brain.

I try to live life with no regrets. And for the most part I really do. I believe that everything happens for a reason and we must trust in that reason, even if we don't see why immediately. But I do wish that I would have spent more time with my friends. More crazy adventures. More time talking. More time with those that I love so dearly. Time is fleeting, this I know. I think about how fast senior year went by. Heck, high school was a blur. You simply just don't realize how lucky you are until it's all being taken away from you.

So here's some little life updates. A High Five for Friday, I suppose. :)

On Monday, Jessica became a legal adult. A birthday post is coming, I just need to sit and finish it. I always end up having to stop because I get too dang emotional because not only was it her birthday, but it was the last time we got to see her before she packed up and left for SIU.

On Monday, little Liv also had a birthday. How is it that she is 14 and in high school now?! Man, what I would give to see her there. It's crazy to think that I remember freshman year so clearly and that's what she's experiencing now. I'm not looking forward to having to say goodbye to her.

Late night movies are always great. Especially when you have an old man in the theater who happens to have the funniest laugh in the world and conveniently laughs at everything. I realized that night that every time we go to the movies, we have this routine;  we go to King Soopers, get cheaper tickets and candy, then go to the theaters and get settled in. Who will I do this with in college?!

SO wonderful to be with all these friends the other night! Nothing beats great conversation over delicious PF Changs, some Bonnie Brae Ice Cream, and a surprise visit to see Riley at the sorority house she's living in for preseason soccer at DU!

And of course a dog picture because it was either her or the cat. She sure is cute and so much fun! Boy will I miss her!

While looking at my Facebook profile the other day for no apparent reason, I realized I still had a quote in my About section that I had posted in middle school.
"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven..." [Ecclesiastes 3:1] (read the rest here)

I could only smile and think that I saw it there, at the time, for a reason. All of this change is coming whether I want it to or not. At this time though, change is happening for everyone. There's comfort knowing that you are not alone as these anxious feeling overcome you. Despite how exciting it all is, we must leave behind a piece of ourselves to embrace the future and become ever more who we really are. The great perhaps is out there, which is terrifying and exhilarating, all at once.

"Change is constant. How we experience change that's up to us. It can feel like death or it can feel like a second chance at life. If we open our fingers, loosen our grips, go with it, it can feel like pure adrenaline. Like at any moment we can have another chance at life. Like at any moment, we can be born all over again." 1. Sunday involved pizza with Riley and Mackenzie and fabric selfies while shopping for some quilting materials.

2. At The Finer Things Club (book club), we celebrated Isabel's birthday! We had lemon cake, in honor of reading The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake.

3. The sunsets have been stellar this week.

4. I made this yummy pasta for dinner this week! It's a favorite in our house! Recipe found here

5. Look who's back for a weekend vacation!!!!!

High Five for Friday!

Another fun, busy summer week complete. I swear it was just June! I cannot believe that in a little over a month, I'm moving out. So much to do, so little time!

1. I saw this video and really loved it. Such a great way of getting across a very important message.

2. My family and I went on a hike to Devils Head. The view was simply indescribable. Also, I still can't believe our little dog was able to do the whole hike. I would have thought with 3-inch legs it would have been a little more difficult, but nope!

3. I've been doing a lot of babysitting this week. I've watched these two a few of those times and they crack me up! They sure weren't afraid of all those geese and ducks!

4. Bella took her first trip to Sonic and of course, loved it.

5. I've been missing XC with these pretty ladies so darn much.

High Five for Friday!

Happy Friday! Can you believe that June is almost over?! Summer sure has a way of flying by. Tonight is the night of the annual Best Friends 5eva summer campout at Jessica's. I'm excited to hike around, do bonanza bombs, and just enjoy some quality time with my best friends.

1. My brother and I went golfing with my cousins, which always is a little crazy. Sure, there might have been some lying down on the course, attempts to tee off with a putter, and complaining, but we finished all nine holes!

2. Mackenzie and I went up to CU for orientation and to explore Boulder. I met some really awesome people and a few people in my hall and that made me even more excited for this new adventure!

3. I've really been loving slow, sad song lately. Not really sure why, but I can't stop! Here's my current favorite:

4. I heart exploring small towns and taking future blog pictures with M.

5. Five days until this fun trip!
